The Foundations Financial Coaching program believes in minimizing barriers to financial education. This training equips current and future financial educators with the tools  - so bring your desire to learn and we’ll handle the rest. This earn and learn training provides technical support for trainees to leverage in a new career, expand a current role, or support a non profit or business assisting in the area of financial education. 

 

The program equips trainees with: 

  • Knowledge to provide services about personal finances, credit repair and building wealth

  • Debt negotiation techniques

  • Counseling skills and techniques

  • A federal and state COVID-19 resource toolkit

  • Digital learning and coaching tools 

  • Trainers with over 20 years of combined experience in community economic impact and financial education support 

  • Nationally acclaimed curriculum 

  • Financial training credentials

Requirements and Deadlines

Eligibility requirements:

  • Resident of Iowa

  • Experienced job loss, a reduction in hours, or profit loss since March 15, 2020

Certification requirement:

  • Attend 40-hour week-long training February 1-5, 2021

  • Complete the certification exam

  • Receive at least 70 percent on certification exam

 

Deadlines:

  • December 27, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.

Initial application deadline 

  • January 10, 2021

Accepted applicants who applied by the initial December 27 deadline notified 

  • January 10, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. 

Extended application deadline

  • January 15, 2021

Accepted applicants who applied by the extended January 10 deadline notified

  • February 1-5, 2021
